Fintech Exchange
Within the context of the recently launched Bali FinTech agenda, this Fintech Exchange series will explore two foundational technology domains increasingly important to central banks: data in financial operations, and central bank digital currency (“CBDC”). Specific implementation challenges such as privacy, scalability, interoperability across systems and borders, AML/CFT and the role of standard setters will be explored both through high level presentations and a series of exchange workshops. The presentation will look at the policy and high-level implications, while the iLab workshops will focus on the technology and implementation emerging practices. The workshops will encourage informal and open discussion in small group setting – in the iLab — between industry practitioners, technologists, authorities and IMF staff. The event will be organized over one day, on Friday April 12th, the morning sessions being dedicated to economics of data, and the afternoon focusing on retail CBDC.
