Magchiel van Meeteren is managing director of the Center for Big Data Statistics at Statistics Netherlands since 2016.

Magchiel joined Statistics Netherlands in 2008. In 2014 he became director at the department of Socio-Economic Statistics, responsible for all supporting activities in the field of data collection, varying from account management, IT, project lead and monitoring, information management and customer’s service desk.

Previously he has been working for the Dutch department of waterways and public works and part of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. He fulfilled several positions as change manager and product manager of Intelligent transport systems, focusing on traffic management.

Magchiel graduated from the Technical University Delft in the Netherlands and received a Master’s degree in Applied Physics. 

Lucia Foster 
Chief Economist and Chief of Center
Economic Studies, US Census Bureau

Lucia S. Foster is the Chief Economist of the Census Bureau and Chief of CES.

Lucia leads the economic research groups within CES, the secure Federal Statistical Research Data Centers, and the Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics program. She uses Census Bureau microdata on businesses to conduct research on job creation and destruction, productivity and reallocation, and R&D performing firms.

She has a B.A. in Economics from Georgetown University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland.

Arvin Subramanian 

Chief Economic Advisor
Government of India

Arvind Subramanian currently serves as the Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India. He advises the Indian government in different capacities, including as a member of the Finance Minister's Expert Group on the G-20.

Arvind has written on growth, trade, development, institutions, aid, oil, India, Africa, and the World Trade Organization.

He was assistant director in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund. He served at the GATT (1988–92) during the Uruguay Round of trade negotiations and taught at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government (1999–2000) and at Johns Hopkins' School for Advanced International Studies (2008–10).

He obtained his undergraduate degree from St. Stephens College, Delhi; his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad, India; and his M.Phil and D.Phil from the University of Oxford, UK.

Michael Lokshin 
Manager and Lead Economist
Development Data Group, World Bank

Michael Lokshin is a Manager and Lead Economist in the Development Data Group of the World Bank.

His research focuses on the areas of poverty and inequality measurement, labor economics, and applied econometrics. More recently, he has been involved in the Bank's efforts in developing software tools and methods for applied economic analysis. Michael leads the group of researchers, survey experts and software engineers in development of the Cloud for Development platform, Survey Solutions CAPI/CAWI system and the ADePT project (Software Platform for Automated Economic Analysis). He is also a person behind the creation of the Economic Research Computer Center in the World Bank.   

Michael received his Ph.D. in Economics from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Marvin Ward
Research Lead
JP Morgan Chase Institute

Marvin Ward Jr. is the Research Lead for the Local Consumer Commerce research group in the JPMorgan Chase Institute.

In this capacity, Marvin and his colleagues work with billions of transactions from millions of Chase customers to explore the dynamics of local economies. The group’s current focus centers on the creation of new data streams to provide novel views of the interaction between consumers and firms in space. The insights gleaned from this work are all shared freely with the public via reports and aggregated data files.

Prior to joining JPMCI, Marvin developed and used microsimulation models to analyze federal policy in the Tax Division of the Congressional Budget Office. Before CBO, he conducted empirical research on local fiscal policy for the Office of Revenue Analysis within Washington D.C.’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer.

Marvin earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. He later attended American University, where he earned an MPP focusing on budgeting & finance, as well as a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Finance.

Angelique Faustino

Angelique Faustino is Global Head of Analytics Platform Technology, Thomson Reuters.  

With over twenty years of experience as a software programmer and engineer, Ms. Faustino leads a global technology team which develops and scales actionable insights about global financial markets.  Under Angelique’s leadership, Thomson Reuters is developing analytical tools and analytic platforms enabling clients to host applications to extract value out of Thomson Reuters’ content at ever increasing levels of frequency and granularity.

Before joining Thomson Reuters, Ms. Faustino led Profitability Analytics for Amazon’s Consumer Division and FX/Economics for Bloomberg creating and delivering high volume datasets.  

Faustino received her M.Sc. from Queen’s University, Canada, in Computing and Information Sciences.

Dmitri Adler

Dmitri Adler is the co-founder and Chief Data Scientist of Data Society, a Data Science advisory and training firm.

Dmitri has a deep background in machine learning and predictive analytics, and has worked with many businesses and government agencies to help them find predictive insights in their data. Dmitri is a former J.P. Morgan investment banker and hedge fund analyst who used data to improve investment outcomes. Since its start in 2014, Data Society has received numerous awards for its professional programs, federal work, and online education platform.
