This discussion is aimed at countries developing, re-designing, or performing their lender of last resort (LOLR) response, and will focus on the main operational and policy considerations around the provision of bilateral LOLR to distressed entities. The first part of this TEDtalk will discuss the objectives behind this emergency liquidity support and compare it to other central bank liquidity providing operations. The second part will highlight how this form of liquidity support has evolved in recent years, and touch on some of the operational challenges that remain.
